THE VENTURE FOR VETERANS COLORADO CYCLING CHALLENGE
Jerry Schemmel, the “Voice of the Rockies”, will attempt to break the UltraMarathon Cycling Association’s record for fastest solo non-stop cycle across Colorado. Schemmel is taking this challenge to raise funds for Paws for Purple Hearts.
The Challenge is immense! Jerry will begin at an elevation of 3,100 feet, ascend to 12,885 feet at Monarch’s Pass, over the Continental Divide and cross the finish-line at 2,100 feet elevation on September 1, 2017.
At dawn on August 31, Schemmel will begin the 468 miles challenge 30 miles west of Grand Junction, CO at the Colorado/Utah border. He’ll race across the state beginning on Highway 6 which turns into Highway 50 in Grand Junction and remain on Highway 50, concluding at the Colorado/Kansas border.

With your help, Paws for Purple Hearts can reach the fundraising goal for Venture for VeteransTM Colorado Cycling Challenge. By donating, you’re giving more deserving heroes the tools of canine therapy and permanent placement of service dogs, which greatly aid in their healing.
Official Challenge Cheer Zones will be in Montrose, Gunnison, Salida and Monarch’s Pass. Please come out an hour prior to approximate cycle-through time to give Jerry an extra boost of motivation! Show your support by waving American flags, bringing homemade signs and wearing purple. Your dogs are welcome too (on leash, please).
