Venture for Veterans Colorado Cycling Challenge Reception and Auction
An intimate reception and auction will take place on September 1, 2017 from 6pm-10pm at Coohills Restaurant in Denver’s hip Lodo District, following the Venture for Veterans Colorado Cycling Challenge. The Rockies’ play-by-play announcer and our cycling challenger, Jerry Schemmel, will be honored for his Herculean efforts in a quest to save the lives of wounded Veterans.
Special guests along with Paws for Purple Hearts service dogs and the Veterans they now permanently serve will be in attendance to give cap off the incredible Venture for Veterans Colorado Cycling Challenge event and fundraiser. Auction items include MLB Rockies gear, gift certificates and ticket packages.
A sumptuous array of Chef Coohill’s amazing hors d’oeuvres, including his famous crab cakes, will be served during the reception with a no-host bar showcasing fine wines and craft beers. Light dessert will also be offered.
Denver native, Bella Speelman, an award-winning guitarist and member of Guitars for the Troops, will be gracing the reception with her amazing talent. Bella was elected to the Thumbpicker’s Hall of Fame in Nashville, and she’s only 18 years old!
Supporters of Veterans, Rockies fans, cyclers and the general public are invited to attend, along with our special guests, Veterans and PPH service dogs. Admittance is on a first come/first served basis for $40 donation to Paws for Purple Hearts at the door. To receive recognition (and receipt) for your tax-deductible donation, please bring a check or credit card. We encourage you to show up early to guarantee admittance to this very special reception honoring Jerry Schemmel’s efforts for our wounded heroes!

Chef Coohill has been recognized with titles such as Georgia Chef of the Year and Great Regional Chef by the James Beard Foundation.
Coohills Restaurant is a family affair, with Chef Tom’s wife, Diane, who can often be seen running front of house and serves as Coohills’ event planning guru. In addition to co-managing Coohills Restaurant, Diane is a passionate ultra-trail runner, like Jerry is with ultra-marathon cycling, making Coohills Restaurant the perfect choice for the Venture for Veterans Colorado Cycling Challenge VIP reception.
