Rosie’s Helps Team Virginia Start 2021 in Style

In Canine-Assisted Warrior Therapy, Events, General, PPH Blog, Virginia

Wonderful news!

Paws for Purple Hearts Team Virginia started the year on a happy note when, on January 8, 2021, service dog in training Scout tried his luck at Rosie’s Gaming Emporium’s new location in Dumfries, Virginia. At the Dumfries location’s Grand Opening ribbon cutting ceremony, Rosie’s Gaming Emporium presented a $2,500 check to support our service dog training and Canine Assisted Warrior Therapy® (CAWT) programs!

Rosie’s Gives Back Charitable Giving Program

Rosie’s Gaming Emporium has locations all across Virginia. Their core philosophy is to “Lead by Example.” This means that the company has dedicated itself to supporting the community and contributing to local nonprofits. Through the Rosie’s Gives Back Charitable Giving Program, Rosie’s makes gifts to causes close to the company’s heart, placing a particular emphasis on support for veterans’ causes.

Supporting Paws for Purple Hearts Virginia

Rosie’s gave this donation to support our mission to provide the highest quality assistance dogs and canine-assisted therapeutic programs to America’s Warriors suffering from mobility challenges and/or trauma-related conditions.

With Rosie’s support, the Virginia team will continue to provide CAWT® to Warriors in Richmond, VA., and the surrounding areas. The Virginia facility works closely with the Hunter Holmes McGuire VA Medical Center to provide CAWT to veterans for free. In this industry-leading program, our trainers facilitate therapy sessions during which Warriors help train and care for our service dogs in training. This positive interaction with our dogs, under the watchful eyes of professional medical personnel, helps reduce PTSD and TBI symptoms. It helps suffering Warriors learn again how to trust and connect with others.

In 2019 the Virginia team provided over 950 hours of this life-changing therapy. In 2020, amidst the COVID pandemic, the team conducted virtual CAWT sessions via video conference for much of the year before transitioning back in-person, socially distant sessions in July.

Thank you to Rosie’s for such generous support! Their $2,500 donation ensures that a future service dog is happy, healthy, and has all of his/her vaccinations.
