While the holiday season is meant to bring love and cheer, it can be especially tough for the families and friends of our heroes who can’t be with us. That is why every December on National Wreaths Across America Day, thousands of people attend wreath-laying ceremonies at over 1,600 cemeteries including Arlington National Cemetery in honor and remembrance of the men and women who cannot be with us this holiday season. This year, Paws for Purple Hearts is proud to be a partner of Wreaths Across America to remember the fallen and honor those who bravely serve our country. 

What is Wreaths Across America (WAA)?

Wreaths Across America has a mission to remember our fallen U.S. Veterans, honor those who serve, and teach children the value of freedom. This non-profit organization works on several programs year-round to ensure Veterans and their families will never be forgotten. Their largest program, National Wreaths Across America Day, enlists the help of thousands of volunteers to lay wreaths at over 1,600 cemeteries, monuments and parks across all 50 states, at sea and abroad. 

What does it mean to sponsor a wreath?

Sponsoring a wreath this holiday season is another way to say “thank you” to a brave Veteran or servicemember who has served our country. Each wreath will be placed on the grave of a Veteran by a volunteer who will “say their name” to ensure that his or her legacy of service and sacrifice is never forgotten.
