Home Depot’s Team Depot Helps Paws for Purple Hearts San Antonio

 In Events, In the media

Home Depot and its San Antonio area Team Depot volunteers extended a much-appreciated helping hand to Paws for Purple Hearts to make our new facility in Military City USA fully operational.  Thanks to their selfless dedication and generosity, we are fully ready to help San Antonio’s military veteran and active duty Warriors with Post-traumatic Stress (PTSD), Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBI) and/or mobility impairments.

As part of their 2017 “Celebration of Service” initiative, Team Depot contributed many long days of labor and a large donation of material and tools that added top-grade improvements to our newly-renovated building and addressed many last-minute construction project punch list items.

Team Depot volunteers arrived in multiple waves starting about a week prior to the grand opening ceremony and got to work improving many aspects of the building and the grounds.  As astounding as their workmanship was, it was the enthusiastic spirit, devotion to quality and heartfelt kindness each member of Team Depot put into their effort that really left an impression.  The teams worked around the clock to ensure the completion of multiple challenging improvement projects prior to the grand opening celebration.  True patriots all, they even took the time to carefully fold the American flag they donated before beginning their “evening shift” work at the site each evening.

Team Depot donated outright and also custom-built many of the fixtures that are now an integral part of our San Antonio operation.

Team Depot custom-created:

  • An excellent entrance to the building, including a flag pole with American flag
  • Beautiful landscaping throughout the exterior of the building and on its grounds
  • Strong and sturdy handmade classroom and conference room tables
  • A one-of-a-kind training room divider to allow puppies to observe and learn from adult service dog training
  • A new training yard complete with custom made agility equipment
  • A projector stand with hand painted PPH logo

Team Depot donated top-quality products such as:

  • Refrigerator
  • Washer and Dryer
  • Indoor dog runs

Team Depot completed punch list items such as:

  • Wall repairs
  • Plumbing upgrades
  • Building signage
  • Fencing repairs

Thanks to the wonderful generosity, amazing energy and selfless devotion of each of our Team Depot friends and neighbors, Paws for Purple Hearts San Antonio was able to open its doors on grand opening night with a building full of supplies, furniture, and other very essential and key projects finished and ready to perform. Warriors participating in Warrior Canine Therapy™ and our service dog program will now have all the tools they need to get the most out of working with our service dogs in training.
