Painting for a Purpose Raises Over $1000

In Events, Facility Dogs, PPH Menlo Park

On June 27th, Paws for Purple Hearts hosted the first annual “Painting for a Purpose”. In partnership with Wine & Design in San Rafael, Paws for Purple Hearts invited the Bay Area community for a fun evening filled with painting, laughs, and raising money to support our great mission.

What is Wine & Design?

Wine & Design is a nationwide franchise that is a fun way to create memories and masterpieces. Bring your friends or significant other and enjoy a glass of wine during one of their two-hour classes. They provide the glasses, canvases, and paintbrushes as a local artist guides you through the evening, stroke-by-stroke.

The owner of Wine & Design in San Rafael, Jackie Datnow, was generous enough to host Paws for Purple Hearts for this event. Thanks to her generosity, Paws for Purple Hearts was able to raise over $1,000 from this event! Be sure to follow her Facebook page to learn about other events she’s hosting in the Bay Area, such as Paint your Pet!

The Main Event

There were incredible donations from local businesses, such as  International Orange, Frequency Fitness & Yoga, Columbine Home, Knimble Clothing & Knick-Knack, and Row Eleven Wines. Because of their generosity, we were able to raise more money and awareness for PPH.

Specialist Therapy Dog, Larson, and PPH’s Clinical Director, Matt Decker, were providing some doggie therapy. I mean, who doesn’t love a Golden Retriever who knows how to “mimic” his handler’s behavior?! Larson was able to shine more light on what the top notch service dogs we provide do for their wounded Warriors and the different career paths they may take.

The Painting

With 4th of July around the corner, guests painted American flag mason jars with daisy flowers. Many took creative liberty and added their own flare to the painting. They all looked beautiful!

Support our Mission

Were you unable to attend, but still want to support Paws for Purple Hearts? Please consider donating, attending one of our events, or starting your own fundraiser through Facebook! Every bit helps. In addition, please consider volunteering with us. Volunteers are crucial to our Warriors, our program, and to helping mold our world-class Paws for Purple Hearts service dogs.
